Dress Code Issues/Violations

  • Leggings, coming back around again
  • Agreed last year as long as covered the length of shorts then they should be good--its is outlined clearly in the student handbook
  • Issue when they are bending over at lockers (wearing sweater over leggings), etc.
  • Gentry: This issue popped up at grade levels. We were not seeing it coming up to the main office, but gather staff are interpreting it differently and some not interpreting at all
  • “You can’t pull that off”—how do you handle that?
  • Read an announcement over the PA or read during homeroom?
  • Inconsistent enforcement in the halls
  • Mr. Griffin is the "go to checker".
  • We are expecting home base teacher to handle it unless it is uncomfortable situation or in the middle of class--all outlined in the dress code sheet.
  • Would it be worth a review of three or four items on the dress code and send home in the newsletter, and send out the dress code check again?  consensus seemed to be yes
  • The "hi-low shirt  issue" –everything thing needs to be covered going by the palm length rule
  • The newsletter review will address the shirts high in the front and long in the back

CHAMPS Posters

  • Younger teachers brought this issue up
  • Idea to add champs rules and regulations for posters in the bathrooms.
  • Gentry will draw up a basic one and send out an email asking for feedback
  • Would POD have anything different because of set up out there?  Most said no
Conversation    =             Quiet
Help                  =             Step out and ask for assistance from nearest adult
Activity             =             Using the restroom
Movement        =             Use facility, then exit
Participation      =             Respectful of others, clean up after yourself

Absorption Plan Process

What are the Issues?
  • Grumbling about absorption as a whole (We should talk to SIT reps and give feedback)
  • Encore is spread out, and makes it difficult for kids getting to their adsorption locations.
  • Room numbers need to be listed on the absorption plan

Not sending work with kids?

  • Thorne:  don’t need to have work, she has the absorbed kids to do what she is doing
  • Worrell:  different grade levels have different plans for work.
  • Encore is less controlled and sometimes more difficult for kids to just join in on the work
  • Putting absorption plans on the shared drive?  issue of people editing those documents?
    • Downs can easily make them all read only once they are saved
  • Be worth encore meeting (maybe once a quarter) to update the plans and hash out issues?
  • How does encore decide how they want to do the work to organize this?
  • Encore needs to get together and decide which options they want.
    • Set up something on an A day
    • Jennifer Garcia is odd man out—only here for two periods
    • Another issue:  If teachers are out multiple days and then generic plans no longer apply
  • Time of year plays into the number of people out too
  • Portia Lakey:  what about some generic math or reading based lessons that we could have on hand? (issue Elkins—how do you handle that some kids have done it and some have not)
  • Travelling teachers (base teacher may not come back and who would be there to divide them up?)
  • Maybe travelling teachers could put on the doors of the rooms they go to or put online?

Any other grade level concerns

  • No other issues!
  • Progress reports go out on the 4th and 18th
  • Meeting in January is on the 27th (none in December)
